The information system interoperability team works on collaborative context and on mediation of IS through service-oriented platform. The objective is to provide network of organizations, which aim to be quickly and efficiently able to work altogether, with a middleware able to support their collaborative behaviour.
The main work of this team is then to build an approach of mediation information system (MIS) design, in order to deploy efficiently a middleware platform (based on an Enterprise Service Bus) able to ensure the interoperability of the involved information systems. This MIS should be in charge of (i) information management, (ii) services sharing and (iii) collaborative process orchestration. The concerned network of partners might be highly distributed, potentially opportunist and possibly for a short life-time.
The chosen approach is based on model transformation. The objective is then to cross the three conceptual layer business, logic and technologic in order to provide the network with the adequate MIS. The models used in this model-driven engineering approach are dedicated to these three levels:
* Business: A collaborative process model (built from the collaborative context characterization),
* Logic: A SOA architecture model (built from the collaborative process model),
* Technologic: An ESB deployment model (built from the SOA architecture model).
The transition mechanisms (from one level to the other) are based on language transformation tools (using meta-models and transformation formal rules).
Furthermore, two main application fields are explored for the moment:
* Deployment, in a crisis cell, of a MIS dedicated to support the collaborative process (potentially unstable) of crisis reduction (built from the situation characterization),
* Deployment, in an industrial network, of a MIS dedicated to support the collaborative process (potentially involving public/private activities and data) of the collective goal (built from the available knowledge concerning the network, roles and competencies of partners.
EMAC is also a founding member of Interop-VLAB (international virtual laboratory on interoperability) and member of several national research associations.
